The nights were cold, but the laughter and company kept us warm as we snuggled in our tents telling stories and cracking jokes!
Would do it again 10/10 times in this beautiful weather.
The Jones Mountain area includes scenic views, calm rivers, and moderately challenging hikes. We spent most of our time on Jones Mountain Trail Blue. This trial will take any hiker right to the top of Jones Mountain where an incredible view and crisp breeze awaits them.
We camped just off of the Fork Mountain trail near the Tower Access Road that leads directly to the top of Fork Mountain. The backcountry camping permits for this area are very easy to get, simply stop in at a ranger station or visitor center that is open and pick up a free permit. Permits can also be acquired before you head out by ordering one online, it typically takes 2 weeks to arrive so plan accordingly.
Jones Mountain is a great spot for any experienced or novice backpacker to practice their skills and we can't wait to bring another group back!
