Sloppy Jo's & Jane's

Fills you up fast!


Ingredients:

  • 1/2 tbsp oil

  • Small onion

  • Red pepper

  • 2 tbsp tomato paste

  • 3 cloves garlic

  • 1/2 cup lentils

  • 1.5 cups water

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

  • 2 tsp apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tsp chili powder

  • Salt to taste

  • Sandwich buns

Prepare everything but the buns before leaving for camping, then all you must do is heat it up and have less to carry!


Directions:

  1. Pour lentils and water into pot and heat till it comes to a boil, then bring to simmer

  2. Dice onion, pepper, and garlic over oil on medium heat

  3. Wait for onions to brown

  4. Add tomato paste, syrup, vinegar, Worcestershire, chili powder, and salt

  5. Mix until one thick sauce

  6. Add soften lentils to the sauce

  7. Mix together

  8. Toss it in travel-friendly containers then, with your buns, HIT THE TRAILS!
